Meryl Streep and Jet Li have not appeared together in a confirmed film, television series or stage production. No reliable public evidence establishes a family relationship, romantic connection, business partnership or close friendship between them. They are internationally recognized performers whose careers developed along very different paths.
Streep is known primarily for dramatic and comedic character acting, while Li became famous through competitive wushu and martial-arts cinema. Their names may invite comparisons, but a professional or personal relationship between them has not been documented.
Have Meryl Streep and Jet Li made a movie together?
Streep’s filmography encompasses dramas, comedies, musicals and literary adaptations. Her notable work includes Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa, The Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia! and The Iron Lady.
Li’s career is associated mainly with martial-arts and action cinema. His best-known films include the Once Upon a Time in China series, Fist of Legend, Hero, Fearless, Lethal Weapon 4, Romeo Must Die and The Expendables.
Because both performers have worked in Hollywood, it is reasonable for viewers to wonder whether their careers ever overlapped. However, their published credits do not establish a shared production. No major studio has announced a future film starring both actors either.
Are Meryl Streep and Jet Li friends?
There is no credible public evidence that Streep and Li are close friends.
This does not prove that they have never met at an industry event or spoken privately. It means that no dependable interview, first-party statement or established publication has documented an ongoing friendship.
Likewise, no reliable supports claims that they are relatives, former romantic or business associates. Photographs, composite images and automated celebrity-comparison pages should not be treated as proof of a real-life relationship.
Why are their names searched together?
No authoritative source has identified a particular event that caused people to search for Meryl Streep and Jet Li together.
The pairing may reflect simple curiosity about two globally famous actors. Celebrity-comparison pages also place unrelated performers side by side according to age, career length, awards or film genres. Once those pages appear in search results, they can make an otherwise random combination seem meaningful.
A genuine collaboration should be traceable through a studio announcement, official film credits or reputable entertainment reporting. Without that evidence, the claim should not be repeated as fact.

Her Golden Globes profile records 33 nominations and eight competitive wins, reflecting a career that has extended across more than four decades.
Jet Li’s martial-arts and film career
Jet Li, born Li Lianjie in Beijing, developed his performance style through wushu. He became a national champion in China before moving into film, making his starring debut in Shaolin Temple in 1982.
Li became a major figure in Hong Kong and Chinese-language cinema through films such as Once Upon a Time in China, in which he played the folk hero Wong Fei-hung. His controlled movement, speed and screen presence helped introduce international audiences to different styles of Chinese martial-arts filmmaking.
He entered mainstream Hollywood cinema as an antagonist in Lethal Weapon 4. Leading and supporting roles followed in Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon, The One, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and three Expendables films. His Rotten Tomatoes filmography provides an overview of his screen credits.
Two different approaches to screen performance
The most meaningful comparison between Streep and Li lies in how they use different performance disciplines.
Li’s signature performances rely heavily on movement, timing, choreography and the visual traditions of martial-arts cinema.
That contrast does not imply rivalry. It demonstrates how film acting can communicate through multiple forms: a shift in voice or expression in one story, and precisely choreographed physical action in another.
